Digital smile: the path to a perfect 10 smile
Deciding to undergo cosmetic dentistry treatment is sometimes complicated by uncertainty about what comes afterward. Patients often wonder: Will it be worth it? Will I like the result? Will it be what I expected?
Clearing up these doubts is now much easier thanks to technology and digital smile design. The protocol developed exclusively by Clínica Dental Fernando Soria, called the Digital Dentofacial Aesthetic Assessment, lets us show patients how a perfect 10 smile will look in their mouth, taking into account their own features: the size of the mouth (lips, gums and teeth), the shape of the face and different shade options.
Dr. Fernando Soria believes that by using this kind of technology, dentistry becomes “more human, emotional and artistic.” By helping patients see the final result in their mouth and working with them on the different aspects of the digital design, “we achieve healthier, more natural and more beautiful smiles by matching the canon of beauty to the patient’s own perception of what beauty is.”
Patients can see their future smile and give their opinion on it and on the changes they would like to make, and hear the specialist’s suggestions
The Digital Dentofacial Aesthetic Assessment takes just two sessions. In the first, we take photographs and models of the mouth. From these, and through a personalized analysis of each case, we create a wax-up so that we can place a mock-up, or model, of the new smile in the patient’s mouth. In the second session, we take the final photographs with the mock-up, and that is when we can show the before and after.
We must not forget that cosmetic dentistry treatments must also be functional and that patients must be able to keep using their mouth in a normal, natural way.
Once these steps are completed, patient and specialist can walk together toward a new perfect 10 smile.
