SIMPLANT system: guided surgery for implant treatment
3D technology comes to dental implantology with the SIMPLANT system, which makes guided surgery precise and safe for both the specialist and the patient. This system also lets patients see the final result before the procedure begins.
The 3D system makes it possible to perform the surgery virtually before carrying it out for real, which reduces the risk of surprises. The SIMPLANT system is indicated for both simple restorations and major surgeries on both arches.
What it involves
Dr. Fernando Soria will ask the patient to have a dental CT scan, which is digitized so that he can then plan the surgery with the software. The great advantage of the SIMPLANT system is that it shows how much bone the patient has under the gums and, therefore, the best place to position the dental implants.
In cases where the patient needs immediate loading after the implants are placed, impressions are taken and sent to the dental technician along with the virtual plan to make the immediate-load prosthesis. On the same day as the surgery, the patient can leave with temporary teeth in place.
What information it provides
Since the software generates a three-dimensional image of the patient’s mouth, the specialist can see its entire anatomy: from the width and density of the jawbone to the exact location of the nerves and the roots of each tooth. It also allows the implants to be placed virtually and, therefore, the ideal size (length and diameter) to be determined for each case. The implantologist can also determine exactly the amount and density of the patient’s bone and whether or not bone regeneration (adding bone) is needed during surgery
One of the main concerns of implant patients is knowing when they will be able to get back to their normal life and smile again. With the SIMPLANT system, the perfect 10 smile is immediate
Finally, the system shows how the mouth will look after surgery and once the immediate-load prosthesis is in place. The end result is precise, predictable surgery, along with exact planning of the subsequent prosthetic restoration.
Benefits for the patient
Clínica Dental Fernando Soria designs a custom guide for each patient so that, on the day of surgery, treatment is minimally invasive and almost painless. Thanks to this system, the implants can be placed through the gum without opening it and, as a result, no stitches are needed.
With this method, patients make fewer visits to the clinic and post-operative discomfort is minimal. And because the case is planned in advance and the dental technician has the final information on hand, the patient can leave with new teeth on the same day as the surgery.
